Welcome to Caterpillas Under 5's
Based within the Tidworth Leisure Centre; Caterpillas Under 5’s was judged Good by Ofsted in January 2020 with three Outstanding Elements. The nursery is registered to take up to 70 children and is made up of two large, open plan rooms flooded with natural light that allow children from 2-5 years to move freely throughout the setting including its large purposely designed outside area and a separate Babies Unit for children aged 7-24 months that offers our youngest children the ability to gain the confidence needed before they move into the larger rooms. Finally, we have a separate sleep room that offers a calming atmosphere so that children can rest easy under the supervision of staff.
At Caterpillas our setting aims to:
Provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age.
Work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop.
Add to the life and well-being of the local community.
Offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.
EYFS
The Early Years Foundation Stage September 2021 lays down statutory requirements to which all early year's settings must adhere. The requirements set out legal guidelines for welfare, safeguarding, staffing and qualifications, policies and procedures. A key element of the EYFS (2021) is to work in partnership with parents.
The Development Matters in the EYFS document supports practitioners in implementing the statutory requirements. Children develop quickly in the early years, and early years practitioners aim to do all they can to help children have the best start in life. Other guidance is available at
